About the Matrix

From Catal Hoyuk (near modern-day Turkey), this figure with 2 leopards at her side (and some say, giving birth here) is about 7,000 yrs old. This carving was unearthed by archeologist James Mellaart in 1961.

Our Matrix governs us by consensus of a quorum of 6 or more women who are committed to a term of 1 to 3 years.  We believe each woman holds a piece of the truth, and we are guided by our by-laws.  All women interested in this process are welcome to attend Matrix meetings and join in the discussions. The Matrix meets on the 2nd Monday of each month (except Jul, Aug & Dec when there are no meetings), from 7:00 to 9:00 pm during the winter months, 7:30-9:30pm during the warmer months.

Our Committees

Educational Committee:
This committee plans and organizes classes related to Women's spirituality for the women of Sophia Sanctuary School. Classes are always free and taught by volunteers, although donations are cheerfully accepted.

Energy Raising Committee:
The Energy Raising Committee is concerned with the day-to-day fundraising activities, as well as the long-range capital building fundraising through grant writing and other means. The committee plans 4-6 yearly events geared towards fun, community outreach, and raising funds. See our forum for more details.

Ritual Planning Committee:
This committee meets monthly on the 4th Monday of each month (or as needed) at 7:30 pm to plan and prepare for each of the 8 yearly rituals we hold. Check the forum for location and more information.
