7th FULL MOON, womyn only (this full moon circle is currently open to all womyn, but it will close to new members after the March 7th ritual)

16th DR. BERNICE JOHNSON REAGON, renowned musician, scholar and civil rights activist, will visit the UO for her acclaimed "songtalk" performance on Thursday February 16, 2012, at 7:30 PM in Beall Concert Hall. The UO Gospel Ensemble will open the performance. The event is free and open to all.
      For over four decades  Reagon has been a major cultural voice for freedom and justice: An African American woman’s voice, a child of Southwest Georgia, a voice raised in song, born in the struggle against racism in America during the Civil Rights Movement of the 50s and 60s; she is a composer, songleader, scholar and producer.
      Reagon is a founder of renowned Washington, D.C.-based a cappella group Sweet Honey In The Rock. She is a professor emeritus at American University in Washington, D.C., and curator emeritus at the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History. She was an original member of the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee's Freedom Singers in 1962. In her songtalk performances, Reagon sings Freedom Songs from the Civil Rights movement and discusses her organizing experiences in the South during this time.
      Her UO appearance is sponsored by the ASUO, the Oregon Humanities Center, the Office of Institutional Equity and Diversity, University Housing, the UO Cultural Forum, the Wayne Morse Center for Law and Politics, the UO Department of History, Clark Honors College and the UO School of Music and Dance.
